What is MC nylon and how is it different from ordinary nylon?

MC nylon (Monomer Casting Nylon, PA6G) is produced from caprolactam monomer by anionic polymerization, cast and formed directly in the mold. Compared with extruded or injection-molded ordinary nylon (PA6 / PA66), MC nylon has higher molecular weight, higher crystallinity, better wear resistance and lower internal stress, which makes it especially suitable for large-size, thick-wall parts such as rope pulleys, gears, rods, tubes and sheets.

What advantages does MC nylon have over steel and cast iron?

MC nylon is about 1/7 the weight of steel, self-lubricating (no or less grease needed), low in operating noise, gentle on mating parts such as wire ropes and shafts, corrosion resistant and virtually maintenance-free. In sliding or rolling contact applications, its typical service life is 3-5x that of steel.

What is the working temperature range of MC nylon products?

Accepted Answer

The continuous working temperature range is -40 deg C to +120 deg C, with short-term peaks up to +150 deg C. For higher temperature conditions, special modified grades are available - please confirm with our engineers.

Does MC nylon absorb water and does it affect the products?

Accepted Answer

Like all polyamides, MC nylon absorbs a small amount of moisture, which slightly increases toughness and reduces brittleness. For precision parts, we supply annealed and conditioned blanks to stabilize dimensions before machining. For tolerance-critical applications, our engineers can discuss solutions with you.

Can MC nylon products be used in contact with food or drinking water?

Accepted Answer

Natural MC nylon is widely used in food processing machinery. If your application requires food-contact compliance (e.g. FDA or EU regulations), please tell us in advance so we can confirm the suitable material grade and provide the relevant documents.

What colors are available?

Accepted Answer

Standard colors are natural white, blue, black and yellow. Other colors can be custom produced once the MOQ is reached.

What modified grades do you offer?

Accepted Answer

MoS2-filled (better wear resistance, lower friction coefficient), oil-filled (self-lubricating, for positions that cannot be greased), glass-fiber reinforced (higher strength and stiffness, better creep resistance), and heat-stabilized grades. Our engineers can recommend the most suitable grade for your working conditions.

MC nylon or UHMWPE - how do I choose?

Accepted Answer

MC nylon offers higher mechanical strength, hardness and temperature resistance, and better tolerance stability - suitable for rope pulleys, gears, wheels and structural parts. UHMWPE has better sliding abrasion resistance and impact strength, but lower strength and temperature resistance - suitable for liners and wear strips. What is the difference between MC nylon and POM ?

Accepted Answer

POM is suitable for small precision parts with excellent dimensional stability. MC nylon is tougher and suitable for large heavy-duty parts - it can be cast into big sizes (rods up to 500mm, tubes up to 800mm, sheets up to 100mm thick), at a much lower cost than machining POM stock of the same size.

Can MC nylon pulleys replace the steel pulleys on an existing elevator?

Accepted Answer

Yes. MC nylon guide pulleys / traction sheaves are a proven replacement for steel ones, reducing rotating inertia, cutting noise by 10-15 dB and protecting wire ropes. Please provide the original pulley drawing or dimensions (outer diameter, bore, rim width, groove type) and we will produce a dimensionally identical replacement.

How do I select the right nylon pulley / guide pulley?

Accepted Answer

Please tell us the load per pulley, running speed, shaft diameter, rope diameter (for rope pulleys) and working environment, and we will confirm the diameter, width, bore and bearing arrangement free of charge.

Can you produce according to our drawings or samples?

Accepted Answer

Yes, custom production from drawings or samples is our main business. We cast the blanks and machine them in-house. Send drawings in PDF, DWG or STEP format, or mail us a sample, and we will confirm specifications and quotation within 24 hours.

What machining services do you provide?

Accepted Answer

Turning, milling, drilling, boring, keyway cutting, groove turning and thread cutting. Parts are delivered ready for assembly. General tolerance is ISO 2768-m; tighter tolerances up to +/-0.05mm are available upon confirmation.

Question 14

Can parts be cast with metal inserts or pre-mounted bearings?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Steel bushings, bearing housings and hubs can be pre-cast or post-machined and press-fitted into the nylon body. Please provide the insert drawing and fitting requirements.

Question 15

What are the standard sizes of rods, tubes and sheets?

Accepted Answer

Rods: OD 30-500mm. Tubes: ID 80-800mm with various wall thicknesses. Sheets: 10-100mm thick. Non-standard sizes can be cast to order. Contact us for the latest stock list.
