The entire unit does not have to turn, but you can track the sun by rotating the entire unit if you like. It comes with castor wheels that allow for easier rotation and mobility on hard surfaces.

Q:How is the elevation adjustment for the cooking platform accomplished?

The elevation adjustment is accomplished by rotating the little handle on the expansion rod mounted on the backside of the parabola. It is designed to be adjusted in increments. The pot receptacle does not need to be adjusted or moved.

Q:How much weight can the pot/cooking platform support?

From experience, the pot receptacle can handle up to about 40 lbs. However, for heavier loads like 45 lbs, it may be necessary to counterbalance and brace the cooker to prevent tipping.

Q:How is the tracking of the sun accomplished?

The whole unit can be rotated on the wheels, or you can just rotate the parabola and the mount ring by rotating it on the center axis or center post. Both ways work fine.

Q:Is the height of the cooking platform adjustable?

No, the height of the pot receptacle is not adjustable. All parabolics have a set focal point based on the depth of the parabola, so the focal point distance remains the same.
