Q:What is ethylene oxide (EO) sterilization, and when is it used?
A:
EO sterilization uses ethylene oxide gas at low temperature (50 Degreein the SD-E) to sterilizeheat-sensitive and moisture-sensitive products. It is the preferred method for plastic, rubber,electronic components, drug-coated devices, and pre-packaged sterile products that cannotwithstand steam (121-134 Degree) or hydrogen peroxide plasma sterilization.
Q:What gas does the SD-E use, and how much per cycle?
A:
The SD-E uses a pre-mixed blend of 80% ethylene oxide and 20% carbon dioxide. Gasconsumption per cycle varies by chamber size: 3 kg (SD-E3), 6 kg (SD-E6), 10 kg (SD-E10), and 20kg (SD-E20).
Q:Does the SD-E require an external aeration room or exhaust ducting?
A:
No. The SD-E features a built-in automatic aeration system that purges residual EO gas aftersterilization. Programmable air exchange intervals are set via the LCD touchscreen. No externalventing or separate aeration room is required, simplifying installation.
Q:How long does a sterilization cycle take?
A:
Sterilization exposure time is settable from 5 to 12 hours depending on load type and requiredsterility assurance level. The total cycle includes preconditioning, EO exposure, and aerationphases. The Siemens PLC automates the entire sequence.
Q:Is the door automatic?
A:
Yes. The SD-E features a fully automatic sliding door that opens and closes without manualcontact, reducing contamination risk and operator physical effort during loading and unloading
