Q:1. How much cooling pad area do I need?
A:
It depends on 3 things: total exhaust fan capacity, pad thickness (10 cm or 15 cm), and local climate.
For a precise calculation, kindly send your poultry house dimensions and fan specs.
Q:2. When should I turn on the cooling pads?
A:
Turn them on when: the house is in tunnel ventilation, temperature is 6-8 degree above target, and relative humidity is below 70-85%; or when outside temperature exceeds 27degree . Avoid using pads during brooding except in extreme heat.
Q:3. Does colder water cool better?
A:
No. Room temperature water works well and can be recycled to save water.
Q:4. Does wetter mean better cooling?
A:
No. Pads only need to be moderately wet, a thin water film on the corrugated surface gives maximum evaporation. Over wetting or running water blocks the air passages and reduces cooling.
Q:5. Why do some areas stay dry? How to fix?
A:
Dry spots cause uneven cooling and heat stress. Common causes: faulty/undersized pump, clogged pipes or nozzles, uneven water distribution (tilted pipes or warped troughs), or aged/scale blocked pads. Fix by cleaning filters and lines, leveling pipes, or replacing pads if needed.
