Q:What makes Shanghai Herrajes composite polymer insulators different from others on the market?
A:
We focus on three core customer needs: lightweight handling, high mechanical reliability, and long-term pollution resistance. Our insulators use a high mechanical load FRP core (epoxy fiberglass) and HTV silicone rubber housing, with strict ISO-certified quality control. Every unit is tested before shipping.
Q:How lightweight are they, and why does that matter to me?
A:
Our insulators weigh only 1/10 of porcelain or glass equivalents for the same voltage class. This means: lower freight cost, easier manual handling (no crane needed in many cases), faster installation, and almost zero breakage during transport or on-site handling.
Q:I operate lines in heavy pollution areas (coast, cement plant, desert). Will these insulators flash over less often?
A:
Yes. The silicone rubber housing is inherently hydrophobic - water beads up and rolls off, taking dirt with it (self-cleaning effect). This gives you much higher pollution flashover voltage compared to porcelain. Many customers report eliminating routine cleaning cycles.
Q:Birds peck at silicone rubber insulators on some of my lines. Is Shanghai Herrajes product resistant?
A:
Our silicone rubber formulation has enhanced anti-bird pecking properties, proven in field installations. The material resists beak damage better than EPDM or low-grade silicone. For extremely heavy bird pressure, we can customize the shed design or add protective measures.
Q:What mechanical loads can I expect, and for what applications?
A:
Our FRP core offers tensile strength up to 700MPa. Typical mechanical loads range from 70kN to 160kN, and we can supply higher on request. Suitable for suspension, tension, and line post applications - including long spans, heavy ice zones, and high wind regions.
