Marine Grade Hot Rolled Shipbuilding Bulb Flat Steel

A: It is a hot-rolled steel section with a thick bulb on one edge, so it stays stiff without adding much weight. On a ship you will mostly see it in double bottoms, hopper tanks, decks and bulkheads. Yards pick it instead of flat bar or angle steel because you get more stiffness for the same weight.

A: Everything from HP80x5 up to HP430x20, which covers the stiffener sizes used on merchant ships, offshore units and repair jobs. You can mix sizes in one order. Need something outside that range? Ask us and we will check it with the mill.

A: Grade A, AH36 and DH36 under ASTM A131. The key numbers: yield strength 235 MPa min on Grade A and 355 MPa min on AH36 and DH36; tensile strength 400 to 520 MPa and 490 to 630 MPa; impact energy 27 J min at 20 deg C on Grade A, and 34 J min at 0 deg C and -20 deg C on AH36 and DH36. If you need another grade or a national standard, just ask.

A: Yes. We can supply against CCS, ABS, LR, BV, DNV, RINA, KR, NK and RS, depending on the grade and which mill we use. Mill certificates come with the goods, and if you want SGS, BV or another third party to inspect, we can arrange that.

A: Ready stock normally goes out in about 7 days, and our own logistics team loads at Shanghai port. Made-to-order runs 15 to 45 days, depending on grade, size and quantity. If you are up against a dry-dock deadline, tell us the date and we will tell you straight away what is possible.
