Q:What is a dual run AC capacitor?

A dual run capacitor supports two electric motors (condenser fan and compressor) in one case, saving space. It is commonly used in air conditioning to help start the compressor and fan motor.
Q:How do I know when to replace the dual run AC capacitor?
A:
Replace it if the fan won't spin, the AC makes humming sounds without airflow, or the AC stops cooling because the compressor is not turning on.
Q:Is installation difficult?
A:
No, it is super easy. Simply shut off power, remove the old capacitor, connect wires to the correct terminals (Herm/H, Fan/F, C), and install the new one without changing wiring.
Q:What is the difference between a starting capacitor and a running capacitor?
A:
A starting capacitor provides high torque to start the motor and disconnects once running. A running capacitor stays connected to balance current and improve efficiency during operation. Starting capacitors have much larger capacity (2-5 times) than running capacitors.
Q:Can I substitute a 440V capacitor for a 370V capacitor?
A:
Yes, a 440V capacitor can replace a 370V one as it works better. However, you cannot replace a 440V capacitor with a 370V one, as exceeding the rated voltage will cause breakdown.
