Aeration must be balanced. Insufficient aeration leads to poor nitrification and fluidization, while excessive aeration causes sludge to swell and fall, resulting in muddy water. Aeration control must be specific to the problem.
Q:Do I still need to add bio-mud after adding MBBR bio-filler?

It depends. Bio-mud is unavoidable in anoxic and anaerobic stages. In aerobic tanks, it can be omitted if temperature is moderate and nitrification is good. If bacteria are insufficient, adding bio-mud can promote film-hanging rates.
