IR-Ta Mmo Titanium Ribbon Anode

A: They cannot be substituted for each other. MMO ribbon anode is coated with Ir-Ta MMO active coating to discharge cathodic protection current. Titanium conductor strip is uncoated pure titanium strip only used as bus bar for current equalization without current discharging capacity. Bare titanium will be rapidly passivated if used directly as anode and lead to system failure.

No coke breeze backfill is needed for mesh anode system under tank bottom. It can be laid directly on sand bedding. The ribbon anode is close to protected steel structure with uniform current distribution. Sand layer serves as conductive medium, simplifying construction and cutting costs.

Special titanium welding machine is required for fusion welding with at least two welding points per intersection. Ordinary electric welding and tin welding are prohibited. Avoid welding on coated area to prevent coating damage by high temperature. Anti-corrosion reinforcement is recommended on welding spots.

Damaged coating area loses electrocatalytic activity and cannot discharge current, resulting in protection blind zone. Local high potential will appear at damaged positions and accelerate anode consumption. Severely damaged sections shall be cut off and discarded.

Minor bending is allowed within the recommended radius. Sharp folding is forbidden to prevent damage to the MMO
