Yes. FR4 fiberglass tubes can be easily cut, drilled, milled, turned, and tapped using carbide-tipped or diamond-coated tools. We recommend using dust extraction during machining due to fine particulate generation.
Q:What are the most common applications for FR4 tubes?
A:
Typical uses include: Insulating bushings and spacers in transformers and switchgear, structural supports in PCB test fixtures, coil bobbins and motor insulation sleeves, robotic arms and automation jigs requiring non-conductive, rigid components, and aerospace and rail transit insulating components.
Q:Are FR4 tubes suitable for outdoor or humid environments?
A:
Yes. FR4 has very low moisture absorption (<0.2%), making it stable in humid conditions. However, for prolonged outdoor exposure to UV radiation, we recommend protective coatings or alternative materials like GPO-3 if UV degradation is a concern.
