Q235A does not require impact test, Q235B requires 20C impact energy >=27J. Q235B has more stable quality, suitable for welded structures and dynamic load members. General structure Q235A, important/welded structure Q235B. We stock Q235B.

Q235 yield 235MPa, good ductility/weldability, low price, general structure; Q355 yield 355MPa, 50% higher strength, long-span heavy load structure. Same load Q355 saves 20-30% material.

Q:Can carbon structural steel be quenched?

Q235 low carbon (<=0.22%), quenching effect not obvious, generally not quenched. For higher hardness, carburizing quenching (case hardening) or select 45#/40Cr medium carbon steel.
