Flat steel is supplied in long bars, width generally <=200mm, with fixed width specs. Steel plate is supplied in sheets or coils, width generally >=500mm, can be cut arbitrarily. Flat steel suits long strip parts and connections; plate suits large area panels and parts requiring cutting. Same material/thickness, flat steel unit price is usually slightly higher (higher rolling cost), but saves cutting process.

Q:How to calculate theoretical weight?

Flat steel theoretical weight (kg/m) = width(mm) x thickness(mm) x 0.00785. Example: 40x4 = 40x4x0.00785 = 1.256 kg/m; 100x10 = 100x10x0.00785 = 7.85 kg/m. Actual weight may vary +/-3-5% due to tolerances; note tolerance range when pricing by theoretical weight.

Q:Can flat steel be custom cut?

Yes. Standard 6m, 9m, special cut per requirement (max 12m). We offer per-drawing cutting, can cut to any length, plus drilling, bending, end-plate welding as value-added services, delivering ready-to-install fabricated parts.
