Q:What is welded square steel tube?
A:
It is a hollow square section produced by cold forming a strip of steel into a square shape and welding the seam by high-frequency electric resistance welding (ERW). Also called SHS (Square Hollow Section).
Q:What is the difference between welded and seamless square tube?
A:
Welded tube has a visible seam and is made from strip steel by forming and welding. Seamless tube is extruded from solid billet with no seam. Welded tube is more economical and suitable for most structural uses; seamless is preferred for high-pressure or critical applications.
Q:What sizes can you supply?
A:
Outside dimension from 10x10mm to 400x400mm. Wall thickness 0.8-16mm. Length 6m, 12m or custom cut up to 12m. Both metric and imperial sizes available.
Q:What grades are available?
A:
Q195, Q235, Q355 (China), SS400 (JIS), S235, S275, S355 (EN), A500 GR.B/GR.C (ASTM). Grade selection depends on yield strength and application.
Q:Can welded square tube be galvanized?
A:
Yes. We supply black tubes for post-galvanizing, or pre-galvanized tubes (Z60-Z275). Hot-dip galvanizing after fabrication provides 45-85 microns zinc coating per side.
