Q:Why does adding more OB-1 not necessarily result in a whiter product?
A:
Fluorescent whitening agents have an optimal concentration for use. If the dosage is too low, a noticeable whitening effect may not be achieved, whilst excessive amounts may cause a bluish or greenish fluorescent tinge, or result in an unnatural colour. It is recommended to determine the optimal dosage through small-scale trials.
Q:Can OB-1 be added directly to a PVC formulation?
A:
Yes. For powder blending production, it can be added directly according to the formulation ratio and mixed thoroughly; for products requiring high dispersion uniformity, it can also be formulated into a whitening masterbatch first, before being incorporated into the final formulation.
Q:Why does OB-1 require good dispersion?
A:
As the addition level of OB-1 is typically low, uneven mixing can easily lead to inconsistent whiteness in different parts of the product, or even result in localised bright spots or colour variations. It is therefore recommended to mix thoroughly; alternatively, a whitening masterbatch may be used to improve dispersion.
