Q:What is the EDI-PRO-2000 used for?
A:
The EDI-PRO-2000 is a modular Continuous Electrodeionization (CEDI) system designed for the polishing of qualified RO permeate to produce high-purity Pharmaceutical Purified Water (PW). It is typically installed downstream of a double-pass RO system.
Q:Can the EDI-PRO-2000 produce Purified Water directly from tap water?
A:
No. EDI requires properly pretreated feed water. The typical feed is qualified RO permeate with controlled conductivity, hardness, chlorine, CO and other contaminants. A complete pharmaceutical water system normally includes pretreatment, RO and EDI.
Q:What type of RO system is recommended before EDI?
A:
For pharmaceutical PW applications, double-pass RO is commonly recommended to provide stable EDI feed-water quality. The final configuration depends on the raw-water analysis, required capacity and target water quality.
Q:Does EDI require chemical regeneration?
A:
No. Unlike conventional mixed-bed ion-exchange systems, EDI uses electricity and ion-exchange membranes/resin to continuously remove ions. Routine chemical regeneration is therefore not required.
Q:Can the EDI-PRO-2000 be integrated into an existing PW system?
A:
