The Steering Knuckle (also called a Spindle or Upright) is a critical suspension and steering component. It serves as the pivot point that connects the wheel hub/brake assembly to the vehicle's suspension (via ball joints or control arms) and allows the wheel to steer left and right (via the tie rod). It is a major safety component that must withstand immense stress.

The knuckle has three essential roles: Wheel Carrier: It holds the wheel bearing and hub, allowing the wheel to rotate.
