A platform laser cleaner uses a worktable and programmed motion path to improve repeatability, fixture positioning and batch consistency. A handheld cleaner is more flexible for large irregular parts, but it depends more on operator movement.

Pulsed laser cleaning is usually preferred for precision parts, molds, selective coating removal and heat-sensitive surfaces. Continuous wave laser cleaning is often selected for faster large-area cleaning such as heavy rust, thick paint or large metal structures.

With suitable laser power, focus, speed and scan settings, laser cleaning can remove surface contaminants while helping protect the substrate. For sensitive or unknown materials, sample testing is recommended.
