This galvanized steel unit forms an elongated ratchet strut with a mounting plate at its upper right end.
The mounting plate is drilled with six countersunk holes arranged in two rows of three for secure fixing.
A long open slot runs along the middle of the body with fine teeth cut into both of its edges.
A triangular pawl slides inside the slot and works with a small coil spring beside the pivot hole.
The lower left end of the strut flares into two curved feet, and each foot is drilled with one extra mounting hole.
