This is a pair of identical steel brackets finished in yellow zinc plating. Each bracket is stamped with a raised central channel along most of its length.
Four pre-drilled holes in each plate allow the bracket to be screwed flat to a wooden rail or post. The holes are spaced around the raised channel for a balanced fixing.
A small tab near one end is punched out of the plate and angled outward. The tab and the tunnel under the channel work with a matching part to lock the joint.
This style of fitting connects the side rails of a bed frame to the headboard and footboard. The two halves slide together and hold without permanent fasteners.
Because the connection can be separated again, the bed frame can be dismantled for moving or storage. The zinc plating keeps the bracket free from rust in normal use.
