Fdn Symmetric Torsional Vibration Damper

The FDN damper converts conductor vibration into torsional motion of the symmetrically arranged hammer heads. As the hammers twist, the steel strand deforms, and vibration energy is dissipated through internal friction within the strand and between its component wires, effectively reducing conductor vibration amplitude.

The FDN features a symmetric torsional design with hammers arranged symmetrically to provide consistent damping performance, while the FDZ features a combined/multi-mass design for multi-frequency damping. The FDN is typically suited for standard applications, whereas the FDZ is designed for broader frequency coverage.

Install the damper at the position specified in the design drawings, ensuring the clamp is firmly tightened to prevent sliding along the conductor. The hammer heads should be oriented perpendicular to the conductor direction. Use a torque wrench to achieve the specified tightening torque.
