STPP is found in processed meat products (ham, sausage), quick-frozen seafood (shrimp, fish nuggets), processed poultry, quick-frozen aquatic products (fish balls, cakes), quick-frozen foods (hamburgers, fried chicken), and some fast food like instant noodles.

STPP has low toxicity and is considered safe by the FDA within acceptable intake levels. JECFA recommends a daily tolerable intake of 70 mg/kg (total phosphorus). Excessive intake may accelerate blood clotting. Usage is regulated by standards like GB2760-2014.

Phosphorus-containing detergents can cause eutrophication, so their use is restricted in some areas. Consumers should check local environmental policies and labels. Use STPP-containing detergents in moderation according to instructions to avoid environmental pollution.

Add STPP strictly within national regulations for use scope and dosage. Ensure uniform dispersion, e.g., by injecting or soaking meat with a solution, or stirring thoroughly in liquids. Avoid adverse interactions with other additives.

STPP is used as a water softener in detergents and industrial water treatment, a quality improver in food (meat, seafood, dairy), a dispersant in paints and drilling mud, and in ceramics, leather tanning, and papermaking.
