Q:Can this grooved Y-strainer only be used for fire-fighting pipelines?

It is mainly designed for fire sprinkler and hydrant systems. It also works for cold water supply-drainage pipelines. Not suitable for strong corrosive media, max medium temperature 100 temperature.

Q:Is there installation direction requirement?

Follow the flow arrow cast on valve body. The Y-branch should face downward or side-down for sediment collection. Do NOT install with Y-branch pointing upward.

Q:What is the difference between grooved-type and flange-type Y-strainer?

Grooved version uses clamp connection for quick installation, specially for grooved steel pipes in fire-protection. Flange-type needs flange bolts and requires disassembling pipe section for maintenance.
