18 oz fabric manufacturers

When purchasing 18 Oz fabric, you must verify the base fabric denier (typically 1000D x 1000D) and the weaving density (e.g., 18x18 or 20x20). For PVC-coated variants, ensure the coating adhesion strength is high enough to prevent delamination. For cotton canvas, check the tensile strength and tear resistance ratings to ensure it can handle heavy-duty applications like truck covers or industrial curtains.

Depending on the target market, the fabric should meet FR (Flame Retardant) standards such as NFPA 701, B1/B2, or M2. For environmental compliance, ensure the material is REACH or RoHS certified, especially if exporting to the EU. If the fabric is used for outdoor covers, verify the UV resistance rating (Grade 4-5) and hydrostatic pressure resistance (waterproofness) to ensure longevity.

Request a third-party inspection report focusing on weight per square meter (should be approximately 610gsm for 18 Oz) and colorfastness. Conduct a cold crack test if the fabric will be used in low-temperature environments (down to -30°C). For B2B buyers, it is highly recommended to use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services to ensure the product meets the pre-agreed technical data sheet before final payment.

This weight class is ideal for truck side curtains, heavy-duty tarpaulins, inflatable structures (bouncy castles), and architectural membranes. Its high durability also makes it suitable for oil booms, gym mats, and industrial ventilation ducts where air-tightness and abrasion resistance are critical.

Fabric production is highly dependent on raw material costs (PVC resin and polyester yarn). Negotiate based on current market commodity prices and aim for a tiered pricing structure where a 20% increase in volume yields a 5-8% price reduction. For custom colors, expect a higher MOQ of at least 1,500 to 3,000 meters per color to cover the machine setup costs.

The most common risk is 'weight cheating,' where a supplier provides 16 Oz fabric labeled as 18 Oz. Always specify the GSM (Grams per Square Meter) in the contract. Another risk is batch-to-batch color variance; ensure the supplier provides a Golden Sample and agrees to a maximum Delta E color deviation limit.

Due to the high weight and density, Sea Freight (FCL or LCL) is the only economically feasible method. Ensure the supplier uses heavy-duty cardboard tubes and PE film wrapping to prevent roll deformation and moisture ingress during transit. For large projects, sourcing via Made-in-China.com allows you to find 'Audited Suppliers' who are experienced in container loading optimization to reduce per-unit shipping costs.

Utilize Trade Assurance or Escrow services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com. Never wire full payments upfront; a standard 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L) is the industry norm. Verify the supplier's Business License and Export Qualification to avoid middleman markups and ensure direct factory accountability.
