2 deoxy d-ribose manufacturers

For high-end applications such as pharmaceutical synthesis or biochemical research, buyers must prioritize a purity level of ≥98% or ≥99% as determined by HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography). The product should appear as a white to off-white crystalline powder. Key technical indicators include a melting point of 89-91°C and a specific optical rotation typically around -56° to -59°. Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch to verify heavy metal limits and moisture content.

2-Deoxy-D-ribose is a critical deoxy sugar that serves as a precursor in the synthesis of nucleosides and DNA-based pharmaceuticals. It is widely used in the production of antiviral drugs and as a biochemical reagent for the Feulgen stain to detect DNA. In the flavor industry, it is sometimes utilized as a precursor for Maillard reaction products to create savory aromas. Buyers should select the grade (Food, Pharma, or Reagent) based on these specific end-use requirements.

Professional suppliers should ideally operate under ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems. For pharmaceutical-grade sourcing, look for manufacturers following GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards. Ensure the supplier can provide a comprehensive MSDS/SDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) and complies with REACH regulations if exporting to the European market. Verification of the CAS Number (533-67-5) is essential to ensure chemical identity.

2-Deoxy-D-ribose is hygroscopic and heat-sensitive. It must be stored in a cool, dry place (typically 2-8°C for long-term stability) in tightly sealed containers. When sourcing cross-border, confirm that the supplier uses moisture-proof packaging (such as vacuum-sealed aluminum foil bags) and consider temperature-controlled shipping if the transit involves high-heat regions to prevent degradation or clumping.

Utilize Trade Assurance services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until delivery is confirmed. Always request a pre-shipment sample for third-party lab testing (e.g., SGS or Intertek) to ensure the bulk cargo matches the agreed-upon specifications. Avoid suppliers who refuse to provide factory audits or clear documentation of their production capacity.

Ensure the product is correctly classified under the HS Code (typically 294000) for sugars and their derivatives. Provide a clear Commercial Invoice, Packing List, and COA to avoid customs delays. Since it is a chemical powder, some carriers may require a Non-Hazardous Chemical Appraisal Report to facilitate air freight. For shipping to the US or EU, ensure all TSCA or REACH declarations are prepared in advance.

Negotiate based on volume-tiered pricing; for 2-Deoxy-D-ribose, increasing an order from 10kg to 100kg can often yield a 15-25% price reduction. Discuss long-term supply contracts to lock in prices against raw material fluctuations. Additionally, clarify if the quoted price is FOB (Free On Board) or CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight), as shipping costs for sensitive chemicals can significantly impact the total landed cost.
