Caterpillar 320bl excavator manufacturers

The Caterpillar 320BL is a classic model known for its Cat 3066T engine and 20-ton operating weight. When sourcing, you must verify the engine horsepower (typically 128 hp), hydraulic pump flow rates, and undercarriage wear percentage. Ensure the swing motor and final drives show no signs of leakage, as these are critical for operational efficiency.

Prioritize checking the boom and stick for weld repairs or cracks, which indicate heavy stress or past misuse. Request a video of the machine under load to check for excessive smoke (indicating engine wear) or hydraulic lag. The hour meter should be cross-referenced with the wear on the pedals, joysticks, and track links to ensure the usage history is authentic.

Ensure the excavator comes with a Certificate of Origin and a detailed maintenance log. For specific markets like the EU or USA, verify if the engine meets EPA Tier or Stage emission standards applicable to the year of manufacture. A third-party inspection report (e.g., CCIC or SGS) is highly recommended to validate the machine's condition before it leaves the supplier's yard.

The 320BL is ideal for general construction, road building, and quarry work. Maintenance should focus on greasing the bucket pins daily, changing hydraulic filters every 500 hours, and monitoring the coolant system to prevent engine overheating. Availability of aftermarket parts is high for this model, making it a cost-effective choice for long-term projects.

Always request high-definition photos of the engine bay, hydraulic pumps, and main control valve. Use Made-in-China.com's secured trading services to ensure funds are only released after the machine passes a pre-shipment inspection. Avoid deals that seem significantly below market price, as they often involve counterfeit parts or hidden mechanical failures.

For a 20-ton excavator, Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) shipping is the safest and most common method. Alternatively, Flat Rack containers can be used if RoRo is unavailable at your port. If you are looking to save on freight, consider partial disassembly (removing the bucket and arm) to fit into a 40ft High Cube container, though this requires professional reassembly at the destination.

Negotiate based on the wear-and-tear components; if the tracks are at 50% life, use this to request a price reduction or a set of new spare filters and seals. Ask for a warranty on major components (Engine and Pump) for at least 3-6 months. Suppliers on Made-in-China.com are often willing to provide free loading and inland transportation to the port if negotiated early.

Utilize Incoterms 2020 (preferably FOB or CIF) to clearly define the point of risk transfer. Ensure all payments are made through official corporate bank accounts rather than private ones. Verify the supplier's export license for heavy machinery, as some countries have strict regulations on the age and condition of used equipment being exported.
