Prioritize fabrics with high elasticity (Spandex/Lycra blends) to ensure a full range of motion. For skin-contact layers, breathable cotton or moisture-wicking synthetic fibers are essential to prevent skin irritation during intense physical activity. Ensure all materials are hypoallergenic and have passed colorfastness tests to prevent dye transfer during perspiration.

Products must strictly adhere to CPSIA (US) or EN71 (EU) standards regarding physical safety. Specifically, pay attention to small parts (beads, sequins, buttons) which must pass pull-tests to prevent choking hazards. Furthermore, ensure the absence of lead, phthalates, and formaldehyde in dyes and decorative elements, verified by OEKO-TEX Standard 100 or equivalent certifications.

Look for reinforced stitching (flatlock or overlock seams) that can withstand high tension without tearing. For tutus and tiered skirts, verify the stiffness and recovery of the tulle; high-quality nylon net holds its shape better than cheap polyester. Check that zippers are recessed or covered with fabric guards to prevent scratching the child's skin.

Most professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com offer OEM/ODM services, including custom sizing charts to fit specific regional demographics, private labeling (heat-transfer or woven tags), and bespoke color matching (Pantone). For performance groups, ask about sublimation printing for vibrant, fade-resistant team logos.

Always request a pre-production sample (PPS) before authorizing mass production. For large orders, hire a third-party inspection service (like V-Trust or SGS) to conduct a During Production Check (DUPRO) and a Final Random Inspection (FRI) to verify that the bulk goods match the approved sample in terms of size, stitching, and safety.

Focus on Total Landed Cost rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for tiered pricing based on volume—discounts of 10-20% are common when moving from 100 to 1,000 units. Additionally, negotiate payment terms such as a 30% deposit and 70% balance payment after the presentation of the Bill of Lading (B/L) or a successful inspection report.

Dance costumes are lightweight but high-volume (especially tutus). Use vacuum packaging to reduce shipping volume and costs. For time-sensitive recital seasons, utilize Air Freight for small batches, but plan Sea Freight (LCL/FCL) at least 3 months in advance for bulk stock to minimize costs. Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Origin to benefit from potential tariff exemptions.

Conduct all transactions through secured payment channels provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com, utilizing their Secured Trading Service. This ensures that your funds are held in escrow and only released to the supplier once you have confirmed receipt and quality of the goods, protecting you against non-delivery or sub-standard products.
