To protect the market value, require the supplier to provide a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) with a unique serial number for each unit. The contract should explicitly state the total production run and include a clause prohibiting the supplier from releasing 'unauthorized overruns' or 'factory seconds' into the market. For high-value items, look for laser-engraved numbering on the base of the product.

In the collectible market, the packaging condition is often as valuable as the product itself.
