Corn silage manufacturers

When evaluating corn silage, the most critical factors are Dry Matter (DM) content, which should ideally be between 30% and 35%, and Starch content, which should exceed 25% for high energy value. Additionally, check the Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF) digestibility; high-quality silage should have an NDFD24 of over 50%. Ensure the pH level is between 3.8 and 4.2, indicating proper fermentation and stability.

Request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) from a third-party lab. Look for low levels of Butyric acid (less than 0.1%), as high levels indicate spoilage. It is vital to confirm the absence of mycotoxins (Aflatoxin, Deoxynivalenol), which can be harmful to livestock. Ensure the supplier uses high-quality inoculants during the ensiling process to guarantee aerobic stability during transport.

Prioritize suppliers using Kernel Processing (KP) technology. The Kernel Processing Score (KPS) should be above 70% to ensure maximum starch availability for the animals. Furthermore, the Theoretical Length of Cut (TLOC) should be consistent, typically between 19mm and 22mm, to provide the necessary 'physical fiber' for rumen health.

Buyers must ensure the supplier provides a Phytosanitary Certificate issued by the exporting country's national plant protection organization. Depending on the destination, you may also require a Non-GMO Project Verified certificate or GlobalG.A.P. certification to meet local agricultural standards and import regulations.

The biggest risk is secondary fermentation and heating due to oxygen exposure. To mitigate this, ensure the silage is vacuum-packed in high-density UV-resistant stretch film or heavy-duty silage bags. For long-distance sea freight, Reefer containers or hermetically sealed bulk liners are recommended to maintain a constant temperature and anaerobic environment.

Focus on price-to-quality ratios rather than just the lowest unit price. Negotiate for tiered pricing based on DM (Dry Matter) tonnage rather than 'as-is' weight to avoid paying for excess water. Request a video inspection of the bunker or pit and ask for batch-specific lab results before finalizing the Letter of Credit (L/C).

Utilize Secured Payment services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. For large bulk orders, it is standard practice to use a Letter of Credit (L/C) at sight or DP (Documents against Payment). Always include a clause for third-party pre-shipment inspection (e.g., SGS or Intertek) to verify weight and moisture content.

Check the HS Code (typically 230800) for specific tariffs in your country. Ensure all documents, including the Commercial Invoice, Packing List, and Bill of Lading, explicitly state the moisture content and additives used. Consult with a local customs broker to confirm if an Import Permit for animal feed is required before the vessel departs.
