Cotton garment bag manufacturers

When sourcing for luxury or professional markets, prioritize 100% natural cotton canvas or muslin with a weight between 6oz and 12oz. Heavier weights offer better protection and durability, while lighter muslin is ideal for breathability, preventing mold and yellowing of delicate fabrics. Ensure the fabric is acid-free and unbleached if the bags are intended for long-term archival storage of wedding dresses or suits.

Look for reinforced hanger openings to prevent tearing and high-quality nylon or metal zippers (such as YKK) that operate smoothly without snagging the garment. For B2B buyers, features like a transparent PVC ID pocket for inventory labeling and sturdy carry handles for portability are highly valued. Additionally, check for gusseted sides (typically 2-4 inches) to accommodate multiple items or bulky garments like coats.

To ensure market entry and brand integrity, verify that the cotton is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, ensuring it is free from harmful chemicals. For eco-conscious brands, sourcing GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified cotton is a significant competitive advantage. If exporting to the US or EU, ensure compliance with REACH regulations regarding dyes and metal components.

Request samples to inspect the stitch density, which should be at least 8-10 stitches per inch for structural integrity. Perform a colorfastness test to ensure dyes do not transfer to the stored garments. For printed logos, evaluate the silk-screen or embroidery quality to ensure it does not peel or fray after repeated use.

The most critical risk is material substitution, where suppliers may blend cotton with polyester to reduce costs. Always mandate a third-party lab test (SGS or Intertek) to confirm 100% cotton content. Additionally, be aware of moisture damage during sea freight; ensure the supplier uses desiccants and moisture-proof outer packaging to prevent mildew during transit.

Focus on tiered pricing based on volume; typically, a 15-20% discount is achievable when moving from 500 to 5,000 units. Negotiate for customized packaging and labeling to be included in the unit price. For long-term partnerships, request Net-30 payment terms after the third successful order to improve your cash flow.

Since garment bags are lightweight but bulky, use vacuum compression packaging for inner polybags to reduce the total volume and save on LCL (Less than Container Load) shipping costs. For urgent seasonal stock, Air Freight is viable, but for bulk replenishment, Sea Freight to DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms is recommended to simplify customs clearance and local delivery.

Always conduct transactions through secured payment channels provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com. Utilize Audited Supplier reports to verify the factory's existence and production capacity. Never wire full payments upfront; a standard 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L) is the industry norm for protecting buyer interests.
