Covered yarn manufacturers

When evaluating covered yarn, you must focus on the Dtex or Denier of both the core and the outer wrap. For Single Covered Yarn (SCY), check the Twist Per Meter (TPM), as higher twists generally offer better durability but may affect the 'hand-feel.' For Double Covered Yarn (DCY), ensure the two layers are wrapped in opposite directions (S and Z twist) to achieve torque balance, which prevents the fabric from spiraling or distorting during knitting or weaving.

The quality of the Spandex or Latex core is critical. Request the Elongation at Break and Elastic Recovery Rate data. High-quality covered yarn should maintain its elasticity after repeated stretching. For high-end apparel, ensure the supplier uses branded core filaments like Creora or Lycra, which provide superior uniformity and tension stability compared to generic alternatives.

To enter the EU or US markets, the yarn must comply with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, ensuring it is free from harmful substances. If you are targeting eco-conscious brands, verify GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification for recycled polyester or nylon covers. Additionally, ensure the dyes used meet REACH regulations to avoid heavy metal or azo dye contamination.

Air Covered Yarn (ACY) is produced via air-jet intermingling, making it cost-effective and high-speed, ideal for socks and seamless underwear. However, for high-quality hosiery, swimwear, or medical compression garments, Conventional Covered Yarn (SCY/DCY) is preferred because the physical wrapping provides a smoother surface, better coverage of the core, and superior durability.

Always request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI). Specifically, ask for a dyeing test report on sample cones to check for color affinity and shading consistency across different batches. On Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers who have undergone third-party onsite verification of their production capacity and quality management systems.

Yarn prices are highly sensitive to raw material fluctuations (petroleum prices for polyester/nylon). Negotiate a formula-based pricing model for long-term contracts. For MOQs, if you are a new buyer, suggest a trial order of 50-100kg per color to test market response, but be prepared to pay a premium compared to container-load (FCL) pricing, which typically offers 15-20% savings.

Covered yarn is sensitive to moisture and pressure. Ensure the supplier uses heavy-duty corrugated cartons with internal plastic liners to prevent dampness. Request that pallets are shrink-wrapped to maintain stability. To optimize shipping costs to countries like the US or Brazil, calculate the volumetric weight carefully, as yarn cones can be bulky; using vacuum packaging for certain types of yarn can significantly reduce freight costs.

Utilize Trade Assurance services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until delivery is confirmed. For large-scale industrial orders, use Letters of Credit (L/C) or Telegraphic Transfer (T/T) with a 30% deposit and the 70% balance paid against the Bill of Lading (B/L) to balance risk between the buyer and seller.
