Diving suit zipper manufacturers

Diving suit zippers must be constructed from corrosion-resistant materials such as marine-grade plastics (POM/Delrin) or high-grade stainless steel/nickel-silver alloys. For professional wetsuits and drysuits, YKK Proseal or BDM metal zippers are industry standards. The tape should be made of high-density polyester or polyurethane-coated fabric to ensure a 100% waterproof or airtight seal depending on the suit type.

It is vital to specify the function: Wetsuit zippers are typically water-resistant (coil or Vislon) designed to limit water exchange, whereas Drysuit zippers must be gas-tight and pressure-resistant. For drysuits, ensure the supplier provides pressure test reports confirming the zipper can withstand at least 0.05 to 0.1 bar without leakage.

Buyers should request data on reciprocal stroke testing (minimum 5,000 to 10,000 cycles) and lateral strength (crosswise pull). For heavy-duty diving gear, a lateral strength of ≥ 400N is recommended. Additionally, ensure the slider is non-locking or has a specialized pull tab that is easy to operate even when the diver is wearing thick neoprene gloves.

Suppliers should demonstrate compliance with ISO 12402-7 (personal flotation device components) or EN 14225-1/2 (diving suits). Furthermore, since the zipper is in direct contact with skin, materials must meet OEKO-TEX Standard 100 or REACH regulations to ensure they are free from harmful substances like lead or phthalates.

Always request brand authorization letters if sourcing name-brand zippers like YKK. For OEM products, utilize Made-in-China.com's 'Audited Supplier' reports to verify the factory's production capacity. It is highly recommended to order a pre-production sample and subject it to a 24-hour salt spray test to verify anti-corrosion claims before releasing the bulk payment.

Negotiate based on annual volume rather than single-order quantity to secure lower unit prices. Ask for tiered pricing (e.g., 500m, 2000m, 5000m). Additionally, request the supplier to include spare sliders (3-5% extra) at no cost, as these are the most common failure points in diving gear and add significant value to your after-sales service.

Airtight zippers are sensitive to extreme folding. Ensure the contract specifies that zippers must be shipped flat or in large-diameter rolls, never folded sharply, to prevent cracking of the waterproof coating. Use moisture-proof packaging (silica gel desiccant) during sea freight to prevent oxidation of metal components during long-transit times.

Use Secure Payment services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released after the goods have passed inspection. For large orders, hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a Final Random Inspection (FRI) focusing on zipper smoothness, teeth alignment, and tape waterproof integrity.
