Edge strip extrusion manufacturers

The choice of material depends entirely on the application. For automotive or outdoor use, prioritize EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) due to its superior UV resistance and weatherability. For industrial machinery, PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) is cost-effective and offers excellent chemical resistance. If the strip requires high flexibility and food-grade safety, look for Silicone extrusions. Always verify the Shore A Hardness (typically 60-80) to ensure the balance between flexibility and structural grip.

For edge protectors, ensure the supplier uses embedded steel wire carriers or segmented steel inserts. This internal reinforcement allows the strip to maintain a permanent grip on the substrate without the need for adhesives. For bulb seals, check the compression set; a high-quality extrusion should return to its original shape after being compressed to ensure a long-term watertight seal.

To avoid customs delays and ensure safety, products must comply with RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and REACH regulations, especially for the European market. For the US market, ensure materials meet UL 94 flame retardancy ratings (specifically V-0 or HB) if used in electrical enclosures. If the product is for the automotive sector, ask for IATF 16949:2016 certified manufacturers to guarantee process consistency.

Yes, most professional manufacturers on Made-in-China.com offer custom tooling (die development). However, you must specify ISO 3302-1 tolerances (Class E2 is standard for high-quality extrusions). Provide a CAD or PDF drawing with clear cross-sectional dimensions to avoid fitment issues, as even a 0.5mm variance can result in the strip falling off or failing to seal.

Extrusions are prone to 'permanent set' if coiled too tightly or crushed. Insist on reinforced cardboard reels or wooden crates for bulk shipments. Request that the supplier uses anti-static PE bags to prevent dust accumulation and specify that boxes should not be stacked more than three layers high to prevent deforming the bottom profiles.

Focus on the weight-based pricing model. Since raw material costs (rubber/plastic granules) fluctuate, negotiate a formula based on the current market price of the polymer plus a fixed conversion fee. For large orders, ask for a tooling cost rebate where the initial mold fee is refunded once your cumulative order volume reaches a specific threshold (e.g., 5,000 meters).

Request a Material Test Report (MTR) and a video of the extrusion line in operation. Use the Audit Reports available on Made-in-China.com to confirm if the factory has in-house testing equipment like tensile strength testers and aging ovens. Ordering a pre-production sample (5-10 meters) is mandatory to test the fit on your specific edge thickness.

For first-time buyers, FOB (Free On Board) is recommended to maintain control over freight costs and insurance. Use Secured Trading Services on Made-in-China.com to ensure your payment is only released to the supplier after you have confirmed the Bill of Lading or passed a third-party pre-shipment inspection.
