Fiber array manufacturers

When evaluating Fiber Arrays, the most critical parameters are Core Pitch Accuracy (typically required within ±0.5μm for high-end applications) and Polishing Angle (standard 0°, 8°, or custom angles). You must also verify the Fiber Type (Single-mode G.657A1/A2 or Multimode) and the V-groove substrate material, usually Quartz, Pyrex, or Silicon, depending on the thermal expansion requirements of your optical module.

High-quality Fiber Arrays must meet Telcordia GR-1209-CORE and GR-1221-CORE standards for long-term reliability in telecommunication environments. Ensure the supplier provides RoHS and REACH compliance certificates. For high-power applications, ask for data on optical power handling and the Glass Transition Temperature (Tg) of the UV adhesive used to prevent delamination.

Fiber Arrays are essential components for Silicon Photonics (SiPh) packaging, Planar Lightwave Circuit (PLC) splitters, and Active Optical Cables (AOC). They are increasingly used in Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) for data centers and LiDAR systems for autonomous driving, where high-density fiber coupling is required.

Professional manufacturers should offer custom fiber counts (from 1CH up to 128CH or more) and variable pitch designs. Check if they can provide PM (Polarization Maintaining) Fiber Arrays, which require precise extinction ratio (ER) control and stress axis alignment. Requesting a First Article Inspection (FAI) report is a standard way to validate their customization precision.

The primary risk is fragility during transit and electrostatic discharge (ESD). Ensure the supplier uses vacuum-sealed anti-static packaging and robust outer cushioning. Another risk is specification mismatch; always confirm the fiber strip length and protrusion length requirements in a technical drawing before mass production to avoid assembly failures.

Focus on Tiered Pricing based on annual volume rather than a single spot order. Since Fiber Arrays involve high labor and precision costs, you can negotiate a lower sample fee that is refundable upon a bulk order. For long-term partnerships, request Net 30 payment terms after a successful trial period to improve your cash flow.

Use reputable couriers like DHL, FedEx, or UPS with 'Fragile' labeling. For large volumes, Air Freight is preferred over Sea Freight to minimize exposure to humidity and extreme temperature fluctuations, which can affect the UV glue stability of the Fiber Array. Always insist on Full Cargo Insurance covering the invoice value.

Utilize the Secured Trading services on Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until delivery is confirmed. Conduct a factory audit (either via a third-party inspection company like SGS or via video call) to verify their cleanroom environment (Class 100/1000) and the presence of automated polishing and alignment equipment.
