Fish protein concentrate price manufacturers

The price of FPC is primarily driven by its protein content (typically 70% to 90%+), solubility, and fat content. High-grade FPC (Type A) must be odorless and tasteless with a fat content below 0.75%, which commands a premium price. Lower grades (Type B) used for animal feed are cheaper but have higher fat and moisture levels. Always verify the amino acid profile, specifically levels of Lysine and Methionine, as these define the nutritional value for B2B buyers in the food and supplement industries.

To ensure market entry, products must adhere to HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and ISO 22000 food safety management systems. For the US market, FDA registration and compliance with the FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) are mandatory. For the EU, EFSA regulations regarding heavy metal limits (such as Mercury, Lead, and Cadmium) and histamine levels are strictly enforced. Suppliers possessing GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) or Halal/Kosher certifications may charge higher prices due to the rigorous auditing processes involved.

FPC produced via solvent extraction (using food-grade ethanol or isopropanol) to remove lipids is generally more expensive than FPC produced through mechanical separation. Spray-drying technology results in a finer, more soluble powder suitable for beverages, which increases the price compared to standard drum-dried variants. Buyers should ask if the supplier uses enzymatic hydrolysis, as this process improves bioavailability and digestibility, justifying a higher price point for premium health supplements.

For Human Consumption (Nutraceuticals), you require high-purity, neutral-tasting powder with low microbial counts. For Aquaculture or Pet Food, a higher fat content might be acceptable, allowing for a lower price per ton. If the FPC is intended for Functional Foods (e.g., protein bars), the water-binding capacity and emulsification properties are critical technical specs that must be confirmed during the sampling phase.

Request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) conducted by a third party like SGS or Intertek. Ensure the contract specifies that the Certificate of Analysis (COA) must match the batch number of the delivered goods. On Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers whose manufacturing facilities have been physically verified to ensure they have the capacity to maintain consistent protein percentages across large batches.

FPC prices are sensitive to raw material (fish meal/fresh fish) market fluctuations. Negotiate based on volume-based pricing tiers; for instance, ordering a full 20ft container (FCL) can often reduce the per-unit cost by 15-20% compared to LCL. Suggest a long-term supply agreement with a fixed price for 6-12 months to hedge against seasonal price spikes in the fishing industry.

FPC is hygroscopic and sensitive to oxidation. Ensure the supplier uses vacuum-sealed, multi-layer kraft paper bags with PE liners or moisture-proof jumbo bags. For long-haul sea freight, specify cool and dry storage conditions (below 25°C) to prevent lipid oxidation and rancidity. Verify the shelf life (usually 12-24 months) and ensure the production date is within 3 months of the shipping date.

Utilize Secure Payment services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. Align with Incoterms 2020; CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) is often preferred for new buyers, but FOB (Free On Board) offers more control over shipping costs if you have a reliable freight forwarder. Always check your local Customs Tariff codes (HS Code 2106.10 or 0305.10) to calculate accurate import duties and VAT.
