Fitting dummy manufacturers

For professional garment design and draping, prioritize high-density PU (Polyurethane) foam or fiberglass covered with linen or cotton. PU foam allows for easy pinning (straight or diagonal) without damaging the core, which is essential for pattern making. Ensure the outer fabric is durable and non-slip to hold garments securely in place during the fitting process.

B2B buyers must verify that the dummy adheres to standardized sizing charts (e.g., US, EU, or UK standards). Look for models with collapsible shoulders, which are critical for fitting tight-fitting garments or evening wear. Ensure the base is a heavy-duty cast iron or stainless steel stand with lockable wheels to provide stability and mobility in a busy studio environment.

Ensure the product meets REACH or RoHS standards regarding the chemical composition of plastics and adhesives to avoid customs issues in the EU or North America. For wooden components (like neck caps or bases), verify FSC certification for sustainable sourcing. Always request a third-party inspection report to confirm that the physical dimensions match the provided size chart within a tolerance of ±0.5cm.

Assess the pinnability lifespan; high-quality dummies should withstand thousands of pin insertions without losing shape. Check the height adjustment mechanism—a foot pedal hydraulic system is more durable and ergonomic for high-frequency use than manual screw knobs. Opt for suppliers offering a warranty of at least 2-3 years on the structural integrity of the torso.

Fitting dummies are high-volume, low-weight items, often leading to high dimensional weight charges. To optimize costs, request knock-down (KD) packaging where the base and torso are packed separately. Ensure the supplier uses 5-layer corrugated export cartons with custom foam inserts to prevent the 'denting' of the foam torso during long-transit sea freight.

When sourcing on Made-in-China.com, leverage the Audit Reports to identify 'Gold Members' with verified manufacturing facilities. Negotiate based on Total Landed Cost rather than just the unit price. For bulk orders, request a free customized logo plate on the base or neck cap to enhance your brand identity, and ask for a 5-10% discount on sample fees to be credited toward your first mass production order.

Always use Secured Trading Services provided by the platform to protect your payments until the goods are shipped. Before final payment, hire a third-party inspector to perform a 'Size Verification Audit'—this is the most common point of failure in dummy procurement. Ensure the Incoterms (e.g., FOB or CIF) are clearly defined in the Proforma Invoice to avoid hidden port charges.
