Propargyl alcohol manufacturers

Propargyl Alcohol (CAS No. 107-19-7) is a high-purity chemical intermediate. Buyers should prioritize a purity level of ≥99.0% for pharmaceutical or electronics applications. Key parameters include moisture content (≤0.1%) and color (typically ≤20 Hazen). Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch and utilizes Gas Chromatography (GC) for quality verification.

It is widely used as a corrosion inhibitor in oil and gas well acidizing, a brightener in electroplating (especially for nickel plating), and a chemical intermediate for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and agricultural chemicals. Its ability to function at high temperatures and in acidic environments makes it indispensable for metal surface treatment.

As a hazardous chemical, it must comply with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for labeling and packaging. Suppliers must provide a comprehensive Safety Data Sheet (SDS/MSDS). For international trade, ensure the product meets REACH registration (for EU markets) and is handled by manufacturers with ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) certifications.

Propargyl Alcohol is highly flammable and toxic. It must be stored in a cool, well-ventilated warehouse away from heat, sparks, and oxidizing agents. It is sensitive to light and air; therefore, it should be kept in tightly sealed, light-resistant containers (often high-density polyethylene or lined steel drums) to prevent polymerization and degradation.

Propargyl Alcohol is classified as a Class 3 (Flammable Liquid) and Class 6.1 (Toxic Substance) dangerous good. Shipping requires UN-certified packaging (e.g., UN1986). You must work with freight forwarders specialized in Dangerous Goods (DG) logistics to ensure proper stowage and segregation on vessels. Failure to declare hazardous materials correctly can lead to heavy fines and seizure of cargo.

Look for 'Audited Suppliers' on Made-in-China.com who have undergone third-party inspections by SGS or TÜV Rheinland. Check their export history and specifically ask for their Hazardous Chemical Production License. Requesting a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) is a critical strategy to ensure the chemical composition matches the agreed specifications before the balance payment is made.

Prices for chemical intermediates fluctuate based on raw material costs (like acetylene and formaldehyde). It is advisable to negotiate volume-based pricing or long-term supply contracts to hedge against price volatility. For transaction security, use secured payment terms or Letters of Credit (L/C) for large orders, and ensure all terms regarding purity tolerance and return policies are clearly defined in the Proforma Invoice.

Verify the HS Code (typically 2905.29) to determine applicable import duties and anti-dumping taxes in your country. Ensure the supplier provides a Commercial Invoice, Packing List, and Bill of Lading that strictly match the SDS. For certain regions, a Certificate of Origin may be required to benefit from preferential trade agreements.
