Sandvik drilling machine manufacturers

Buyers must prioritize engine power (kW), drilling diameter range, and maximum hole depth. For underground mining, ensure the machine features low-emission engines (Stage V or Tier 4 Final) and automated rod handling systems to enhance safety. For surface drills, verify the compressor capacity (CFM/psi) as it directly impacts flushing efficiency and penetration rates.

The equipment must adhere to ISO 12100 for machinery safety and ISO 4413/4414 for hydraulic and pneumatic fluid power safety. If importing to the EU, a CE Marking and Noise Emission Certification are required. For the US market, ensure compliance with MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) standards for underground units.

Request the Product Identification Number (PIN) and cross-reference it with official records to confirm the year of manufacture. Demand a comprehensive hydraulic pressure test report and an engine diagnostic scan. For refurbished units, ensure that genuine Sandvik spare parts were used, particularly for the rock drill (drifter), which is the most critical high-wear component.

Sandvik machines are categorized into Surface Top Hammer, Down-the-Hole (DTH), and Underground Development Drills (Jumbos). Functional requirements include GPS-based hole navigation systems for precision and remote-control capabilities for hazardous environments. Ensure the cooling system is rated for the ambient temperature of your specific job site (e.g., high-altitude or tropical conditions).

The biggest risks include hidden mechanical defects and logistical damage. To mitigate this, always hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Bureau Veritas) to conduct a pre-shipment inspection (PSI). Ensure the transaction is protected via Trade Assurance or a Letter of Credit (L/C) to guarantee that funds are only released upon verification of shipping documents.

Focus on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the sticker price. Negotiate for a spare parts package (filters, seals, and drill bits) to be included in the initial price, which can save 10-15% in maintenance costs in the first year. Ask for extended warranties on major components like the rotary head and engine in exchange for a larger down payment.

Drilling machines are typically shipped via Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) or Flat Rack containers. Confirm the Incoterms clearly; CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) is common, but DAP (Delivered at Place) provides more security for the buyer regarding inland transport. Ensure the supplier provides a detailed packing list and rust-prevention coating for sea transit.

Verify if the supplier offers online technical troubleshooting and has the capability to ship emergency wear parts within 48-72 hours. Before finalizing the purchase, confirm the availability of English-language operation and maintenance manuals and inquire if the supplier can provide video-based operator training to ensure site safety.
