Shantou candy manufacturers

As Shantou is a global hub for confectionery, buyers must ensure products meet food safety management systems such as ISO 22000 or HACCP. For specific markets, verify compliance with FDA (USA), EFSA (EU), or Halal/Kosher certifications. Always request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for each batch to confirm the absence of prohibited colorants or excessive heavy metals.

Prioritize suppliers that use natural colorants and flavorings if targeting premium markets. For gummy or jelly candies, confirm the gelatin source (bovine, porcine, or pectin-based for vegans). Ensure the shelf-life is clearly labeled, typically ranging from 12 to 24 months, and verify that the packaging provides an adequate moisture barrier to prevent melting or crystallization during transit.

Shantou suppliers excel in toy-candy combinations and novelty packaging. Evaluate their ability to provide custom molds, private label printing, and BPA-free plastic components for toy candies. Professional manufacturers should offer 3D prototyping for new designs and have experience in EN71 or ASTM compliance if the product includes a toy element.

Candy is highly sensitive to temperature and humidity. For chocolate-based or soft gummy products, reefer containers (refrigerated) are essential to maintain a stable temperature between 18°C and 22°C. For hard candies, ensure the use of desiccants in the container to prevent 'sweating' and stickiness caused by the high humidity typical of South China's climate.

Implement a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) conducted by a third-party agency like SGS or Intertek. Ensure the inspector checks the production dates, packaging integrity, and performs a sensory evaluation. Never release the final payment until the inspection report confirms the goods match the approved gold sample.

Focus on Volume-Based Pricing; Shantou factories operate on thin margins and offer significant discounts for Full Container Load (FCL) orders. Negotiate packaging costs separately to see if savings can be made on materials. For long-term partnerships, request exclusivity on specific molds or designs to protect your market share.

Use secure payment methods such as Letters of Credit (L/C) for large volumes or Escrow services provided by reputable B2B platforms like Made-in-China.com. This ensures that funds are only released upon proof of shipment (Bill of Lading) and compliance with agreed-upon quality standards.

Be aware of sugar quotas and anti-dumping duties that may apply in your country. Some regions impose higher tariffs on high-sugar content items to protect local industries. Consult with a customs broker to determine the correct HS Code (typically under Chapter 17 or 18) and check for any preferential trade agreements between your country and China.
