Sodium hydrosulphite 88% manufacturers

Buyers must prioritize the purity level (min 88%), as lower concentrations significantly reduce bleaching efficiency. Key parameters include Iron (Fe) content (max 50ppm) to prevent fabric yellowing and Heavy Metals (as Pb) (max 1ppm) for environmental compliance. Ensure the product appears as a white free-flowing crystalline powder without lumps, which indicates moisture absorption and degradation.

Sodium Hydrosulphite 88% is primarily used as a reducing agent in textile dyeing (especially Vat dyes and Indigo), a bleaching agent for paper pulp, kaolin clay, and leather, and in reductive cleaning for polyester. It is also essential in water treatment for chrome reduction. For B2B buyers, matching the particle size to your specific machinery is crucial for consistent dissolution rates.

As a hazardous chemical, it must have a valid Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch. For European markets, REACH registration is mandatory. Ensure the manufacturer complies with ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management). For textile applications, check if the product meets OEKO-TEX® or ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) requirements.

Sodium Hydrosulphite is chemically unstable and decomposes when exposed to moisture or air. Buyers should request stability test reports and ensure the product is packed in hermetically sealed containers (usually steel drums with double-layer plastic liners). A standard shelf life is 6 to 12 months; therefore, buyers should avoid overstocking and prioritize suppliers with high inventory turnover to ensure fresh batches.

Sodium Hydrosulphite is classified under UN Class 4.2 (Substances liable to spontaneous combustion). It must be shipped in UN-approved packaging, typically 50kg or 100kg iron drums. During transit, it must be kept in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated container, strictly separated from oxidizing agents, acids, and flammable materials. Ensure your freight forwarder is experienced in handling Dangerous Goods (DG).

Utilize Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services to protect your payment until shipping documents are verified. Always request a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) by a third party like SGS or Intertek to verify the 88% purity and packaging integrity. Avoid suppliers offering prices significantly below market average, as this often indicates sub-standard purity or recycled chemical waste.

Pricing is heavily influenced by the cost of raw materials (Zinc or Sodium Formate processes) and energy prices. Negotiate based on annual volume contracts rather than spot buys to secure stable pricing. Ask for tiered pricing (e.g., 20ft FCL vs. 40ft FCL) and consider Incoterms like FOB or CIF carefully; while CIF is convenient, FOB allows you better control over the specialized DG shipping costs.

Upon arrival, the product must be stored in a fireproof, waterproof, and moisture-proof warehouse. It should be kept away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Ensure the warehouse is equipped with dry powder fire extinguishers (never use water or foam if the chemical ignites). Implement a First-In-First-Out (FIFO) inventory system to prevent the use of expired, less effective chemicals.
