For large orders, hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a Hydrostatic Pressure Test and a Seat Leakage Test at the factory before the final balance payment is made.

Focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for a longer warranty period (typically 18-24 months) and ask for a spare parts kit (including diaphragms and gaskets) to be included in the initial shipment. Clarify the Lead Time, as specialized alloy valves can take 30-45 days to manufacture.

Steam PRVs are heavy and precision-calibrated. Insist on Seaworthy Plywood Crating (IPPC heat-treated) with internal bracing to prevent movement. Ensure all flange faces are protected with plastic covers and the valve body is coated with anti-rust oil or wrapped in VCI (Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor) film to prevent salt-air corrosion during sea transit.

Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Origin (CO), which may qualify you for preferential tariff rates under specific trade agreements.
