Sweater knitting fabric manufacturers

When evaluating sweater knitting fabric, you must prioritize Material Composition (e.g., 100% Cotton, Acrylic/Wool blends, or Polyester/Spandex for stretch). Pay close attention to Fabric Weight (GSM), as this determines the warmth and drape; typical sweater fabrics range from 250g/m² to 500g/m². Additionally, verify the Yarn Count (e.g., 12GG, 14GG) which indicates the fineness of the knit, and ensure the Pilling Resistance meets Grade 3-4 standards to ensure long-term garment durability.

To ensure market access and consumer safety, prioritize suppliers who provide OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, which guarantees the fabric is free from harmful substances. For organic requirements, look for GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard). If you are exporting to the US, ensure compliance with CPSIA (especially for children's wear), and for the EU, verify that the dyes used comply with REACH regulations regarding chemical usage.

Always request a Pre-Production Sample (PPS) to check for Color Accuracy (Lab Dips) against Pantone references. Conduct a Shrinkage Test; high-quality knit fabrics should have a shrinkage rate of less than 5%. Furthermore, ask for third-party test reports covering Color Fastness to Washing and Bursting Strength, as knitted structures are prone to snagging or losing shape if the tension is not properly set during the knitting process.

Sweater knitting fabrics are versatile, used in Casual Wear, High-Fashion Knitwear, and Home Textiles. Depending on the end-use, you may require functional treatments such as Anti-Static finishing, Moisture-Wicking for performance knits, or Brushed/Fleece backing for added thermal insulation. For luxury markets, focus on Mercerized finishes which provide a silk-like luster and improved dye affinity.

Utilize Secure Payment Terms such as Letter of Credit (L/C) or platforms that offer Trade Assurance services like those found on Made-in-China.com. Avoid paying 100% upfront; a standard 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L) is recommended. Additionally, hire a Third-Party Inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform an In-Line or Final Random Inspection to ensure the goods match the approved sample before the final payment is released.

When negotiating, leverage Volume-Based Pricing; increasing your order from 500kg to 1,000kg can often reduce the unit price by 10-15%. If your volume is low, ask the supplier for 'Running Colors' (stock colors) to bypass high Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ) for custom dyeing. Always clarify if the quoted price is FOB (Free On Board) or CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) to avoid hidden logistics costs later.

Knitted fabrics are bulky; therefore, Vacuum Packaging is often used to reduce volume and save on sea freight costs. Ensure the supplier provides an accurate HS Code (typically Chapter 60 for knitted fabrics) to prevent customs delays and incorrect duty calculations. For urgent samples, use Air Express (DHL/FedEx), but for bulk orders, Sea Freight remains the most economically feasible method. Always confirm the Import Tariffs in your specific country to calculate the total landed cost.
