Tyvek paper price manufacturers

Tyvek is primarily categorized into Hard Structure (Type 10) and Soft Structure (Type 14). Hard structure (e.g., 1056D, 1073B) is paper-like, stiff, and ideal for printing, packaging, and RFID sleeves due to its high burst strength. Soft structure (e.g., 1443R, 1460C) has a fabric-like feel, making it suitable for protective apparel, promotional bags, and designer accessories. Buyers must specify the style number to ensure the material meets the required breathability and stiffness profiles.

Critical metrics include Basis Weight (g/m²), Thickness (mils or microns), and Opacity. For medical packaging, verify Microbial Barrier properties and compliance with ISO 11607 standards. For outdoor use, confirm UV resistance levels. Always request a Technical Data Sheet (TDS) from the supplier to compare physical properties like tensile strength and tear resistance against your application requirements.

Tyvek is compatible with Offset, Flexography, and Screen printing, but it is sensitive to high temperatures. If using digital printing, ensure the material is top-coated for HP Indigo or UV inkjet. Standard Tyvek has a melting point of 135°C (275°F), so laser printing is generally not recommended unless using specialized, low-heat equipment. Always confirm the surface treatment (Corona or Antistat) with the supplier to ensure ink adhesion.

For the US market, ensure FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 compliance if the material contacts food. For the EU, REACH and RoHS certifications are mandatory to ensure the absence of hazardous substances. If sourcing for medical sterilization pouches, the supplier must provide CPE (Certificate of Product Excellence) and evidence of cleanroom manufacturing conditions.

Tyvek is a proprietary flash-spun high-density polyethylene (HDPE) manufactured by DuPont. To avoid inferior 'synthetic paper' substitutes, buyers should request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch and verify the DuPont Authorized Distributor logo. On Made-in-China.com, prioritize suppliers with 'Audited Supplier' status who can provide traceable supply chain documentation from the original manufacturer.

Tyvek prices are heavily influenced by global HDPE resin costs and order volume. Negotiate based on annual volume commitments rather than one-off spot buys to secure 'Tier 1' pricing. Additionally, discuss slitting and conversion costs; sourcing jumbo rolls and having the supplier slit them to custom widths in-house can reduce the total cost of ownership by 10-15% compared to buying pre-cut sheets.

While Tyvek is waterproof and durable, it is susceptible to core crushing and edge damage during sea freight. Ensure the contract specifies heavy-duty plastic end-plugs and palletized shrink-wrapping. For high-value medical-grade Tyvek, use temperature-controlled containers if transiting through tropical zones to prevent the activation of specialized coatings or adhesives.

Utilize Trade Assurance or secure payment escrow services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to protect your funds until delivery is confirmed. For large-scale orders, hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a 'During Production Check' (DUPRO) to verify that the material being loaded is genuine Tyvek and not a generic polyethylene substitute.
