Wholesale turkish glass manufacturers

When evaluating Turkish glass, prioritize borosilicate glass for heat resistance or soda-lime glass for standard tableware. Ensure the annealing process is sufficient to prevent internal stress, which leads to spontaneous breakage. For decorated items, verify that gold or silver gilding is applied using high-temperature firing to ensure it is dishwasher safe and resistant to fading. For hospitality clients, check for rim tempering to increase chip resistance by up to 3 times compared to standard glass.

Safety is paramount in food-contact materials. Products must comply with FDA (USA) or EC 1935/2004 (EU) regulations. Specifically, ensure the glass passes Lead and Cadmium leaching tests (ASTM C738 or ISO 7086). If the glassware is intended for the European market, look for CE Marking and REACH compliance regarding any decorative pigments or coatings used on the exterior.

Handmade Turkish glass, often featuring traditional 'Çeşm-i Bülbül' patterns, will have slight variations in weight and thickness, which adds to its artisanal value. Machine-made glass should demonstrate high clarity (low iron content) and zero visible bubbles or seeds. Request a physical sample to inspect the seam lines; high-quality molds produce nearly invisible seams, whereas low-quality production leaves sharp or prominent ridges.

Turkish tea glasses (Cayi) must have a thermal shock resistance of at least 60°C to 80°C to handle boiling water. The design should feature a waisted shape to keep the tea hot while allowing the rim to stay cool. For wholesale distribution to cafes or hotels, ensure the saucers are stackable and the glass thickness is consistent to withstand high-frequency commercial washing cycles.

The biggest risk is breakage during transit. Insist on 5-layer corrugated export cartons with individual cell dividers and bubble wrap/PE foam for each unit. For bulk sea freight, use palletization with shrink wrap to prevent shifting. It is highly recommended to include a 1-3% breakage allowance in the contract or negotiate for the supplier to provide extra units (over-shipping) to cover potential transit damage.

Turkish glass is often produced in large batches; therefore, MOQs for custom designs can be high (e.g., 5,000+ units). To get better pricing, align your order with the factory's existing production schedule for standard molds. Negotiate based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), including the cost of custom branded packaging, which can significantly impact the final landed price. Always ask for tiered pricing (e.g., 1,000 vs. 5,000 units) to identify the 'sweet spot' for volume discounts.

Use Secured Payment services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. For first-time orders, hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a During Production Check (DUPRO) and a Final Random Inspection (FRI). Ensure the Bill of Lading (B/L) description matches the Proforma Invoice exactly to avoid customs clearance delays or fines.

For heavy, fragile items like glass, FCL (Full Container Load) is safer than LCL (Less than Container Load) because it reduces the number of times the goods are handled. If shipping to the US or Europe, ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Origin to benefit from potential preferential tariff rates. Always clarify Incoterms; FOB (Free On Board) is generally preferred for experienced buyers as it allows better control over the ocean freight costs and insurance.
