Wool handmade tapestry manufacturers

Buyers should prioritize 100% New Zealand wool or high-mountain Tibetan wool for superior fiber length and natural luster. Ensure the yarn count (e.g., 1-ply vs 3-ply) aligns with the desired texture; higher ply counts offer better durability and weight. Additionally, verify that the dyes used are eco-friendly and Azo-free to prevent color bleeding and ensure safety for indoor environments.

The quality is primarily determined by the knots per square inch (KPSI) or line count (e.g., 120 lines, 200 lines). A higher density indicates finer detail and higher value. Inspect the selvages (edges) for straightness and the fringe integrity to ensure they are part of the warp threads rather than sewn on. For tufted varieties, check the backing material (usually cotton canvas) for adhesive stability to prevent delamination.

For the US market, products must comply with CPSC flammability standards (16 CFR Part 1630/1631). For the EU, REACH regulation compliance regarding chemical substances is mandatory. It is highly recommended to seek suppliers with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification to guarantee the absence of harmful substances, and ISO 9001 for consistent manufacturing processes.

Yes, most professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com offer OEM/ODM services. Buyers can provide CAD drawings or Pantone color codes. It is crucial to confirm the color matching accuracy (usually within a 5% variance) and request a pre-production sample (strike-off) to verify the design scale and texture before full-scale weaving begins.

The primary risks include color deviation between digital photos and physical products, and dimensional instability (hand-woven items may have a 2-3% size variance). To mitigate this, always use Third-Party Inspection services (like SGS or Intertek) before final payment to verify weight, size, and color accuracy against the approved sample.

Handmade items have high labor costs, so MOQs are often low (e.g., 1-5 pieces), but unit prices drop significantly at volume tiers (e.g., 50+ units). Negotiate based on complexity of design rather than just size. For long-term partnerships, request progressive discounts and clarify that the price includes export-standard packaging (moisture-proof plastic wrap and durable woven bags).

For small batches or high-value samples, Air Freight (Courier) is preferred to minimize moisture exposure. For bulk commercial orders, Sea Freight is cost-effective, but you must insist on silica gel desiccant packets inside the packaging to prevent mildew or odors during long transit times. Ensure the Incoterms are clearly defined, preferably FOB (Free On Board) for better control over logistics costs.
