Buyers must confirm the load-bearing capacity, which should ideally be above 300kg to ensure safety. Check the drainage diameter (standard is usually 1.5 or 2 inches) to ensure compatibility with local plumbing. For whirlpool or massage tubs, verify the water pump power (HP) and ensure the noise level is below 60dB for a premium user experience.

To avoid customs seizures and legal liability, ensure products meet regional standards. For the US market, cUPC certification is essential for plumbing fixtures. For the EU market, CE marking and EN 14516 compliance are mandatory. Additionally, ensure all electrical components in massage tubs have UL or ETL (North America) or RoHS/CE (Europe) certifications to guarantee electrical safety in wet environments.

Safety is a critical liability factor. Look for tubs with an ISO 10545-17 (or equivalent) anti-slip bottom rating. For elderly-friendly or accessible designs, prioritize walk-in tubs with watertight seals and integrated stainless steel grab bars that can withstand a pull force of at least 200 lbs.

Bathtubs are fragile and bulky. Insist that the supplier uses reinforced 7-layer corrugated boxes with thick honeycomb cardboard or EPE foam corner protectors. For Solid Surface or Cast Iron tubs, wooden crate packaging (fumigated) is non-negotiable to prevent cracking during container loading and unloading.

Focus on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for spare parts (like extra drain kits and seals) to be included at no cost. If ordering in bulk, request a customized mold fee rebate where the supplier refunds the mold cost after your cumulative orders reach a certain volume (e.g., 500 units).

Hire a third-party inspector to perform a water leakage test on at least 5% of the batch, keeping water in the tubs for 24 hours. Also, conduct a surface light test to check for pinholes, uneven coloring, or 'orange peel' effects in the acrylic glaze, which are signs of poor manufacturing.

Due to the high volume-to-weight ratio, FOB (Free On Board) is generally preferred for experienced buyers to control freight costs. However, if you are new to the industry, CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) provides more security. Always ensure the Marine Insurance covers 'All Risks' to protect against breakage during transit.
