During inspection, perform a 'Battery Leakage Test' and a 'Continuous Operation Test' (running the toy until the battery dies) to check for circuit stability. Ensure the sound decibel levels comply with ISO 8124-1 to prevent hearing damage. For RC (Remote Control) toys, verify the frequency stability (e.g., 2.4GHz) and effective range in an open environment.

Using ABS plastic instead of cheaper PP (Polypropylene) increases durability and impact resistance, reducing the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) rate. While ABS has a higher unit cost, it prevents 'dead on arrival' (DOA) issues caused by shipping damage, ultimately lowering the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for the buyer.

Batteries are classified as Dangerous Goods (DG). Shipping toys with installed lithium batteries requires specialized DG packaging and labeling. It is often more cost-effective to ship toys without batteries and source batteries locally, or use a freight forwarder experienced in Section II of PI966/PI967 regulations to avoid customs seizures or airline rejections.

Always look for 'Audited Suppliers' on Made-in-China.com, as they have undergone third-party verification by SGS or TÜV Rheinland. Use Secured Trading Services to ensure payment is only released after you confirm receipt of goods. Request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) to verify that the battery compartments are child-safe before the balance payment is made.

Negotiate based on tiered pricing (MOQ vs. Container Load). Ask for a 1-2% spare parts allowance (extra motors, battery covers, or remote controllers) instead of a direct price discount; this is often easier for suppliers to grant and provides you with immediate stock for customer replacements. Also, clarify OEM/ODM branding costs upfront to avoid hidden plate-making fees.

Be aware of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directives in the EU, which require importers to contribute to recycling funds. Check for anti-dumping duties or specific tariffs (HS Code 950300) between your country and China. Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Origin to potentially benefit from Free Trade Agreements (FTA) and reduced duty rates.
