For international trade, compliance is non-negotiable. Prioritize suppliers whose products meet NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for structural integrity and material safety. For the European market, CE certification and REACH compliance are essential. If the housing is intended for drinking water, ensure the manufacturer provides FDA-compliant raw material reports.

The physical dimensions, such as 10-inch or 20-inch lengths and Standard vs. Big Blue diameters, dictate the flow rate and the life of the filter cartridge. A larger housing allows for a higher flow rate (GPM) and lower pressure drop. Beyond the unit price, negotiate the replacement rate for defective units (standard is 1-2%). Discuss customization options (OEM) such as private labeling on the housing or custom-colored caps. For long-term partnerships, request tiered pricing where the unit cost drops by 10-15% as annual volume increases.
