Safety is paramount. The gas cylinders must comply with ISO 11439 or ECE R110 standards for high-pressure gas storage. For the vehicle itself, ensure it meets Euro IV, V, or VI emission standards depending on your local environmental regulations. Always request TPED (Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive) or equivalent certification for the pressure vessels to ensure legal operation and insurance eligibility.

Consider the cylinder arrangement (behind the cab vs. side-mounted). Rear-mounted cylinders offer larger capacity (up to 1000L+) for long-haul transport, while side-mounted cylinders provide a lower center of gravity and better stability for urban distribution. Verify the inclusion of a high-quality gas regulator and injector system to ensure fuel economy and cold-start reliability.

CNG trucks require specialized attention to the ignition system (spark plugs and high-voltage wires), which should be replaced more frequently than diesel components. The gas filters must be drained of oil contaminants regularly. Most importantly, periodic hydrostatic testing of cylinders (usually every 3-5 years) is a legal requirement in most jurisdictions to prevent catastrophic failure.

Look for 'Audited Suppliers' who have undergone on-site inspections by third-party agencies like SGS or TÜV Rheinland. Check if the supplier has a 'Diamond Member' status and review their export history to your specific region. Requesting a video factory audit to see the gas system installation line is highly recommended to ensure they are a manufacturer and not a middleman.

The primary risk is pressure vessel safety during transit. Most shipping lines require CNG cylinders to be completely purged and depressurized (or filled with a small amount of inert nitrogen) before loading onto a Ro-Ro (Roll-on/Roll-off) vessel. Ensure the supplier provides a 'Certificate of Emptying' to avoid port rejection and hazardous material surcharges.

When ordering multiple units, negotiate for a spare parts package (filters, spark plugs, sensors) valued at 3-5% of the contract price. Request extended warranty terms on the gas cylinders and engine. For payments, use Letter of Credit (L/C) or Escrow services to ensure funds are only released upon verification of the Bill of Lading and pre-shipment inspection reports.

The PSI should include a gas leak test using electronic detectors at all joints, a road test to check engine performance under load, and a verification of VIN and Engine numbers against the documentation.
