Ensure the supplier provides MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) and BPA-free certifications. If the palette includes pre-filled cosmetics, GMPC (Good Manufacturing Practice for Cosmetics) and ISO 22716 certifications are non-negotiable.

Focus on the hinge durability, which should withstand at least 1,000 opening/closing cycles without loosening. The magnetic closure strength should be sufficient to prevent accidental opening during transit but easy for the end-user to open. For pressed powders, ensure the well depth and diameter are compatible with standard pressing machines to avoid cracking.

Common techniques include silk-screen printing for simple logos, hot stamping (gold/silver foil) for a luxury look, and UV coating for a glossy, scratch-resistant finish. For complex designs, 3D digital printing or water transfer printing offers high-resolution results. Always request a pre-production sample (PPS) to verify color accuracy against Pantone codes.

Cosmetic palettes, especially those with mirrors or pressed powders, are fragile. Require 5-layer corrugated export cartons and individual bubble wrap or EPE foam sleeves for each unit. For bulk sea freight, ensure the use of pallets with plastic wrap to prevent moisture ingress and minimize handling shocks.

Negotiate for lower MOQs on trial orders by offering to pay a slightly higher unit price that can be credited back on the next bulk order. This ensures the AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) meets your standards.

Be aware of Anti-Dumping duties that may apply to specific materials in certain regions. Ensure all packaging includes Country of Origin (Made in China) markings, which is a mandatory requirement for customs clearance in the US and EU.
