Ensure the material is High-Tenacity Polyester (PES) for acid resistance or Polypropylene if chemical resistance to alkalis is required. Additionally, verify the width-to-capacity ratio to ensure the belt can handle the specific tonnage without excessive stretching.

For global trade, products must adhere to EN 1492-1 (for flat woven webbing slings) or EN 1492-2 (for round slings) in the European market. U.S. buyers should ensure compliance with ASME B30.9 and OSHA standards. Look for the CE Mark and GS certification to guarantee the product has undergone rigorous safety testing.

Professional crane belts use a color-coding system (e.g., Violet for 1t, Green for 2t, Yellow for 3t, etc.) and woven black stripes (one stripe per ton). Every belt must have a permanently attached identification tag containing the manufacturer's name, WLL, material type, and the unique serial number for traceability.

Flat webbing slings are ideal for loads with a wide bearing surface to protect fragile surfaces from damage. Round slings, consisting of a core of high-tenacity yarn covered by a tubular jacket, are better for choker hitches and handling cylindrical objects due to their superior flexibility and strength-to-weight ratio.

The biggest risk is material fatigue or substandard yarn that leads to catastrophic failure. To mitigate this, always request a Mill Test Certificate (MTC) and a Third-Party Inspection Report (such as SGS or TUV) before shipment. Avoid suppliers who cannot provide a Product Liability Insurance policy for international orders.

Negotiate for a pre-shipment break-load test where a sample from your specific batch is pulled to destruction to verify the Safety Factor. Insist on Trade Assurance terms to lock in the technical specifications, ensuring that the delivered goods match the tensile strength agreed upon in the Proforma Invoice.

During transit, ensure belts are kept away from UV light and heat sources, as prolonged exposure degrades synthetic fibers. When shipping to humid climates, use desiccants in packaging to prevent mold on the webbing. Upon arrival, store them in a cool, dry, and dark environment to maintain their rated breaking strength.

Check for Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) that may apply to synthetic fiber products in your specific country. Ensure the HS Code (typically 6307.90) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays. For large-scale industrial projects, verify if the supplier is an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer to meet government procurement requirements.
